Josie Baff grew up in Jindabyne with Thredbo her home mountain and as her riding progressed she was drawn to snowboard cross – not surprising as her dad Pete is one of Australia’s leading snowboard cross coaches. Josie was a standout competitor during her junior years which culminated in her winning the gold medal at the 2020 Youth Olympic Winter Games in Switzerland.
Josie moved onto the World Cup as an 18-year old for the 2021/22 season, securing a couple of top 10 results and qualifying for 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Her breakout year was the following season, with two world cup wins and second at the 2023 World Championships. Josie had five podium finishes in the 2024/2025 season and is in good form in the current season with two podium results, a third and a second, in the first two races. Josie is a strong contender for a medal in both individual and teams events at the 2026 Winter Games.
