NSW Government Funding to Further Enhance National Snowsports Training Centre

Mountainwatch | Press Release
Snow Australia has secured $300,000 as part of the NSW Government Infrastructure Funding grant to progress the construction of a rail line and dry slope at the National Snowsports Training Centre (NSTC) in Jindabyne, a project that will unlock year-round training opportunities for Australian snowsports athletes.
The NSTC currently features world-class airbag jump facilities, an acrobatics gym and high performance training infrastructure. The addition of a dry slope and rail line will complement these existing assets, creating a more complete, interconnected training hub capable of supporting athletes across multiple disciplines throughout the year, regardless of the snow season.
For athletes across the pathway, the dry slope and rail line will play an important role in skill development and progression. Providing a controlled and progressive training environment, the facility will support technique refinement, repetition and technical development year-round.

Snow Australia CEO Ben Wordsworth said the funding represents a major milestone in bringing the NSTC’s founding vision to life.
“This is a very exciting opportunity to fulfil the initial vision of the National Snowsports Training Centre. From the very beginning, the goal has been to create a facility that truly serves Australian snowsports athletes all year round and a dry slope and rail line are central to that.
“To see it now taking shape is incredibly exciting for everyone involved in the sport.
“We are deeply grateful to the NSW Government for their ongoing support of Australian snowsports. This funding is a real vote of confidence in what we are building at the NSTC and in the future of the sport in this country,” said Wordsworth.
Snow Australia’s Board has recently approved the initial phase of the project, which involves the engagement of a civil engineer to progress detailed planning and design. This critical first step will shape the scope, timeline and requirements for construction, laying the groundwork for what promises to be a transformative infrastructure project.
While the NSW Government grant provides meaningful momentum, the project is expected to cost in excess of 900k in total. Snow Australia acknowledges that additional investment and community support will be required to bring the full vision to life.
“This funding has allowed us to make a real start on something we have long believed in,” Wordsworth added.”But a project of this scale requires a collective effort. We will be looking to partners, supporters and the broader community to help us get there,” he said.
Snow Australia looks forward to sharing further updates as the planning phase progresses, and thanks the NSW Government for its continued commitment to building the infrastructure that will support the next generation of Australian snowsports athletes.
