June 17th, 2010

Getting upside down is always fun. Rider: Steff Z

Snow Journal | Vaughan Brookfield

It’s on – the New Zealand winter is kicking into full swing. You can feel the chill in the air and the winter punters are starting to pile into town. We have just had a further 15cm top up on the hills around Queenstown. Canterbury is covered and further south Coronet have the lifts rolling and Remarkables is soon to open.

We got the opportunity to get a Cat ride up and do a bit of a pre opening session. We took some of the groms with us and Nick Hyne and Steff Z showed them how its done. There is some good pockets of powder around to whack a turn and the guys at Remarks pushed up a few features in the stash for Diaries Down Under.

Good times. We are expecting more snow later this week just in time for opening. I can’t wait.
