Valid Wednesday 14thJune to Saturday 17thJune

The rain eventually turned to snow yesterday and now there’s a lovely fresh layer up here with Hothams, Falls, Periasher an dThrebo reporing 20-25cms.Further snow showers today should add a few- several more centimetres to it.

The following few days will be rather grey and drab as W-NW winds continue to push in cloud and drizzle, often clagging up the slopes and reducing the visibility. Freezing levels will mostly be hovering up around 1800m-2000m, so snow making will be limited if any, but they should drop a touch during Saturday as NW winds blow a gale ahead of an approaching cold front.

 Wednesday 14th

Light snowfalls will continue throughout most of the day, down to 1300-1400m at first, then gradually lifting to 1500-1600m before petering out this evening. Reduced visibility and brisk W-SW winds.

Thursday 15th

A drab ol’ day, with cloud and drizzly, showery stuff clagging up the slopes. Snow levels lift to about 1900m during the AM. Fairly strong W-NW winds with reduced vis again.

Friday 16th

Cloud and light, patchy drizzle again due to the uplift of NW winds, which will become strong on the Vic side. Skies may start to brighten during the second half of the day as the cloud thins.

Saturday 17th

Gale NW winds will make it much rougher than it ought to be on a partially cloudy day, with just a spot of drizzle possible.

Extended Forecast

There’s no massive dump on the horizon, but a couple of cold fronts – one early Sunday and the other during Monday – should drop a couple of much needed recue powder packages, both of the 5-15cm type. They could be a little more, or a little less, depending on which way you look at them. The cold temps during this period, as well as the day or two afterwards, should also see the snow guns whipping the main runs into fine, shred-able order.

That’s all from me today, folks. See you again on Friday!
