August 12th, 2009

Day 1 of the Rip Curl Australian Freeride Pro at Thredbo (NSW) has been postponed today due to poor weather conditions, with rainfall affecting the terrain.

The Rip Curl Australian FreeRide Pro is a unique snowboard and ski event recognised as one of the finest events on the Australian snow calendar. The waiting period runs from August 11 to 13 and requires only 1 1/2 days to run the event.

With today called a lay-day Chris Booth, Australia’s best freeskier gives us a lowdown of what happened on his recent overseas trip and takes a run through a slope-style park showing us why he’s one of the best in the country

The Rip Curl Throwdown Invitational will again be held under lights in a purpose-built terrain park on Wednesday night from 6.30pm at slopeside Thredbo Village. Throwdown is an action-packed new event that creates loads of hype for the event and plenty of thrills for the Thredbo spectators.

Event officials are calling for improved conditions at Thredbo for the remaining two days of the waiting period, and will reconvene tomorrow at 8am to make a call on competition, for a possible 10am start.
