Scenic chairlift | Mt Hotham
Saturday Update, thanks to even more snow making and a helpful dusting of new snow, most of the resorts are running more lifts that expected. Here’s what’s going right now across the Aussie Alps and should run across the whole weekend
Mt Buller is running the four lifts it promised earlier in the week, with Bourke St, Baldy and Shakey Knees groomed and ready to go.
Hotham is operating three lifts, The Big D, Summit Trainer and Upper Playground, the first time three lifts have been operational on opening weekend since 2003
Falls Creek Has The Falls Express, with access to Wombat’s Ramble, Towers and Mousetrap lifts going, plus the Tomthumb beginners area.
Perisher Along with the planned V8 and magic carpets, Perisher is also running the Quad Express to midstation and the Mitchell t-bar. The Mini Fusion terrain park is also up and going.
Thredbo has opened the Cruiser chairlift for skiing on a number of runs at Merritts along with Gunbarrel for skiing at High Noon. Easy Does It and the magic carpets are open at Friday Flat and Kosciuszko chair is open for scenic rides. There is a small terrain park in action at the Cruiser.
Selwyn Snowfields has opened New Chum and Township chairs and the ski school rope tow. With 40cm of man made snow Selwyn is off to a great start to the season.
Mount Baw Baw has the Frosti Frog Hollow and Frantic From toboggan runs open and the lifts are on standby for skiing and boarding.
Lake Mountain Resort has been snowmaking up a storm and there is plenty of snowplay to be enjoyed.
