To celebrate the launch of winter and the return of Thredbo Backcountry Tours supported by The North Face, Thredbo is hosting backcountry info nights with The North Face in Sydney at the Four Pines Truck bar in Brookvale(May 31st), Canberra at Capital Brewing (June 1st) and Jindabyne at the Brumby Bar and Bistro (June 2nd).

Learn about the Thredbo Backcountry Tours supported by The North Face, and chat all things backcountry with athletes Janina Kuzma, Tess Coady and Michaela Davis-Meehan, and Thredbo Backcountry head guide Alex Parsons.

There will also be a screening of A Winter Affair: The Pursuit, where Janina Kuzma and fellow The North Face athlete Sam Smoothy set out to summit Mt Tasman and ski down the gruelling Stevenson-Dick Couloir, one of New Zealand’s great ski mountaineering challenges.

Raffle tickets will be available to raise funds for Snowy Mountains environmental group Keep It Cool, with some awesome prizes up for grabs, including a spot on a Thredbo Backcountry Tour and gear from The North Face.

The nights kick off from 6.30pm and spots are limited. Head here to book for what is always a fun and informative night.

Thredbo’s Backcountry Tours supported by the North Face are now open for booking for the 2022 season. The tours range, from introductory through to advanced tours, each catering to different levels of knowledge, experience and ability.

Thredbo’s team of experienced guides know the Kosciuszko backcountry like the back of their hand. They are first aid trained, hold avalanche certification and carry appropriate emergency equipment.

New for 2022 are our women’s specific Backcountry Tours, as well as an AST1 Avalanche Skills Training course – a two-day internationally recognised course where participants develop essential skills and knowledge to make decisions and stay safe in the backcountry.

Other tours include the Introduction to Backcountry Tour, the Beyond Boundaries tour where you’ll explore new terrain and hunt out untracked snow and the Advanced Adventurer Tour where you’ll ride some iconic backcountry lines and amid the challenging terrain of Australia’s highest peaks.

For those looking for something less demanding you can still experience the unique backcountry environment through the Snow Shoe Tours which demand just a moderate level of fitness.
