Thredbo, March 9th: From Monday 3 – Friday 7 March, over 1100 students from almost 350 schools from around Australia flocked to Thredbo MTB Park to compete across 5 days of racing for the Boost Mobile Australian MTB Interschools.
The huge turnout of students at this year’s Interschools reflects the popularity of mountain biking in Australia is still on the rise, particularly among female and junior divisions.

Thredbo MTB Business Manager, Tim Windshuttle said it was a pleasure to host the next generation once again.
“It’s always inspiring to see such a strong passion for mountain biking among the younger generations. The incredible number of kids who came to compete this week is a clear testament to the sport’s bright future in Australia. Their skill level continues to rise each year, and there’s no doubt that we’re witnessing the early stages of some truly promising MTB careers,” said Mr Windshuttle.

With students ranging from years 3-12 across 5 divisions, the jam-packed event schedule featured four races including the Rockshox Downhill, Fox Flow, Maxxis All-Mountain and Deity Pump Track.
Spectators and event coordinators were impressed with the strong talent on display this year, with Thredbo Junior Ambassador Maddie Lloyd taking out first place in all of her races. Maddie was representing Snowy Mountains Grammar, a local school that, with her help, scored the highest points and subsequently won the event.
