Queenstown is known as the fun and adventure capital of the world and in winter you can add snow, taking it to another level. It’s must-visit destination that offers a multi-layered holiday experience and somewhere you’ll want to visit again. Here’s our tip for the top five things to do in Queenstown this winter.

Cruising on a powder day at The Remarkables

1 It’s an obvious one, but with three world-class ski resorts a short distance from town skiing and snowboarding is a no brainer. You can access Coronet Peak and the Remarkables on the same pass, so you can mix it up during a week-long stay. It is also worth making your way over the Crown Range and spend a day at Cardrona.

2 Need a “rest” day? Queenstown is the adventure Capital of the World. So many activities to choose from like bungy jumping, skydiving, jet boats, onsens, cruises, wine tours etc. etc. Looking for something relaxing? We recommend booking the cruise on the historic TSS Earnslaw  across Lake Whakatipu for the gourmet BBQ lunch Walter Peak High Country Farm.

3 Try a local beer. Queenstown has a few great breweries spread across town. Head to Canyon Brewing on the Shotover River or visit Altitude Brewery on the lake.

4 Dinner. No matter your budget, flavour or time of day, Queenstown has a ton of amazing food options. Want something relaxed but with an incredible view? Then head to the newly renovated Surreal on Rees St. Feel like some Mexican, then Margo’s is a must try or if you want a steak, Botswana Butchery is amazing.

5 Heli Ski. A number of heli ski operators are based out of Queenstown, accessing the incredible terrain of the Southern Alps. Harris Mountains heli-ski are one of the best operators in the business, with experienced guides who know the Southern Alps and where to find the best snow.
