Australian snowboarder Jesse Parkinson has spent the past two winters based in Wanaka, riding and training in Cardrona’s world class terrain park with his long-term coach Mikey Williams.

The 17-year-old is focussed on slopestyle and big air and has been regarded as one of Australia’s rising talents since he was 12 and Jesse’s progression over the past two years is impressive. Jesse competed in his first World Cup in Georgia last March, finishing fifth and won the NZ Winter Games slopestyle event against an international field in Cardrona last month.

Jesse was also awarded a Tier 1 scholarship within the 2023 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship and Mentoring Program and his mentor is legendary Australian surfer and former world champion Barton Lynch.

Jesse grew up on the Sunshine Coast and is an avid surfer and is stoked to have the opportunity to work with Barton at the start of his international snowboarding career. Jesse is one to watch and Reggae Elliss caught up with him in Wanaka recently to talk about this past season and his future plans.
