The future of snow sports in Australia turned heads on Saturday at Thredbo’s infamous Project Shred. Bringing together 170 rising kids and 15 of Australia’s top-tier snow athletes – including seven Winter Olympians – Project Shred was a day all about progression in a purpose-built terrain park.

Designed to inspire, educate, and stoke the fire for freestyle snowboarding and skiing, Project Shred offered young athletes the rare opportunity to learn from the best in the game. Across the custom-built playground, the next generation sent it – from first park laps to stomping brand new tricks with confidence and style.

Leading the charge were an all-star line up of coaches including Paralympian Ben Tudhope, Olympians Tess Coady, Scott Kneller, Josie Baff, Abi Harrigan, Russ Henshaw and Manuela Berchtold, alongside Thredbo Ambassadors and elite athletes Jye Kearney, Juan George, Airish George, Joey Elliss, Arkie Elliss, Charles Beckinsale, Beau Goodwin, Nate Goodwin and Andy James. Each brought their unique experience, energy and stoke to the mountain – mentoring, motivating and celebrating every progression milestone with the kids.

Built exclusively for the event, the custom park was tailored to grom-friendly progression, offering a variety of features designed to build confidence. Coaches provided one-on-one tips, technique breakdowns, and plenty of hype.

“Project Shred is about more than just tricks,” said Thredbo Events Manager Sam Noller said. “It’s about mentorship, community and sparking a lifelong passion for the mountains.”
