Despite the fact that we’re now in mid-March there has been absolutely no sign that Ol’ Man Winter is getting ready to kick the bucket just yet. In fact, the last few weeks have been serving up some of the best snow and perfect sunshine of the season so far.

With about four weeks of the usual “season” still left to unfold, if you’d been debating a cheeky last minute trip, now would be a great time to pull the trigger. Still got some skiing to get done this year? Why not read on for more…

Today on the hill

Niseko:
It’s a cool day with mixed conditions in Niseko today. Temps are holding low with a mid-mountain temperature of around -5ºC, keeping the snowpack in great form. There has been no new snow since yesterday’s falls, the highlight at this time of year is out in the slack country. Head out through the gates and score some freshies while they’re still around!

Hakuba:
It’s on in Hakuba today! Thanks to yesterday’s snowfall there’s been 15cm of fresh snow already with more falling. With cold clear days in the forecast, the next week is looking great. As Steve pointed out in today’s report the Avalanche danger is Considerable, so take care when heading out of bounds or out the back!

Furano:
Sunny and beautiful is the name of the game in Furano today, so get out there and enjoy it while it still lasts. There is some ugly weather in the forecast for the end of the week, and a rise in temperatures to go with it! Keep your eyes peeled on our daily reports to make the most of your days.

In The Forecast

Hakuba:
There’s snow in the forecast for the next three days, before a break to some sun and flurries as we head into the weekend. Temperatures will return to more of a spring cycle over the end of the week before a drop to the valley by Sunday night. The higher alpine is dishing up some insane skiing right now so head high but stay safe!

Niseko:
The snow that hits tonight should stick around until Wednesday as the weather clears and warms. There will be some ugly rain hitting by Thursday/Friday before another storm hits on Sunday night. Keep your eyes on the 7-day forecast to see what eventuates.
