Early August 2010 – Rail Jam, Snow Park NZ and Hiking at The Remarkables

August 9th, 2010

There is a really good rail line at Snow Park that’s plenty of fun.

Snow Journal | Vaughn Brookfield

It’s been pretty dry around NZ the last few weeks. We have had cold weather but clear skies. Not to worry though – there has been plenty of spots to go shred and at this time of the year it’s all action.

We got a light snow fall over 10cm at Remarks so Josh Clark and I went on the hike for a few fresh turns. Snow Park is also looking really good with a huge number of rails set up, as well as a sick jump line and the pipe is looking super.

We have also had the Export 33 ParkLife Rail Jam in Queenstown on Friday August 6. They had a nice set up this year and everyone was going for it. It’s always a fun night going down to the park and watching some local riders while having a few beers.

We have just had a big storm come through that has dropped 20-60cm and is still going over the fields around the South Island, so it’s looking good for a few powder turns.

There are always little spots like this off the side of the trail where you can whack a turn.
