The new Dragon 120 Hiperfit from Tecnica has drawn some rave reviews after its release in the northern hemisphere and it looks like the trend will continue in the southern hemisphere
Designed as an all-mountain freeride boot, the Dragon 120 is aimed at the advanced/expert market. It is one of those boots that’s feels right as soon as you put it on and is flexible without sacrificing stiffness when you need it.
Marcus Hochleitner. manager of Jindabyne Sport’s Thredbo store and expert boot-fitter, moves a lot of boots during winter and reckons the Dragon 120 will be a big seller this year.
“It is one of those boots that fits most people. The liner is self-moulding so it adapts to different feet and you have a precise fit,” he said. “It’s a performance boot with excellent power transmission to the ski.”
There are two types of plastic used in the asymmetric “three-density shell” – 70% hard, 30% soft – creating three zones of hardness. This, combined with low profile racing-style carbon steel buckles, ensure a natural foot wraparound for a better fit,
Other technical features in the Dragon 120 include:
Carbon steel buckles are 5 times stronger than magnesium, allowing the buckles an extremely low profile without sacrificing durability
Instep catch is hinged, allowing excellent pressure distribution; plus, it pivots away from the shell, letting the shell spread for easy entry
45mm UltraFlex Booster power strap securely wraps around the leg and offers progressive flex and shock absorption
Bi-injected A.V.S. sole design does maximizes shock absorption and provides a non-slip surface along the sole of the boot
